The Daytona is one of the most iconic chronographs in watchmaking history. At PANTER Watch, we have reinterpreted its essence in four Seiko Mod versions, each with its own chromatic personality – but all sharing the same high-quality technical base.
What do the four Daytonas have in common?
Before delving into each model, it's worth knowing what unites them:
- Movement: Seiko TMI VK63A Meca-Quartz – a hybrid caliber that combines the precision of quartz with the smooth sweep of the mechanical second hand, characteristic of racing chronographs.
- Crystal: Scratch-resistant sapphire – the same material used in Swiss luxury watches, with a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale.
- Case: 316L stainless steel – surgical steel with high corrosion resistance.
- Bracelet: Solid 316L Oyster-style steel – robust, comfortable, and with a polished finish.
The four models
1. DAYTONA Lemans – The classic gold The most elegant reference in the family. Gold-toned case and bracelet, black dial with silver sub-dials. A combination that evokes the great racing chronographs of the 60s and 70s. For those seeking presence without being ostentatious.
2. DAYTONA PANDA – Timeless black and white The "Panda" is perhaps the most recognizable dial in the world of chronographs: white dial with black sub-dials, with a glossy finish. Classic, versatile, and always current. A watch that works equally well in a business meeting as it does in a paddock.
3. DAYTONA Light Blue and Black – Sporty and different Gold finish on case and bracelet, sky blue dial, and black bezel. The sportiest and most contemporary combination in the collection. The sky blue on the dial brings luminosity and character – a watch that doesn't go unnoticed.
4. DAYTONA Gold and Green – The most exclusive Gold-toned case, green dial. Green in watchmaking has been synonymous with exclusivity ever since major brands popularized it in their most coveted references. This PANTER Watch Daytona brings that trend to the world of Seiko Mod with outstanding results.
The VK63A movement: why it matters
The Seiko TMI VK63A is a meca-quartz caliber – a category that deserves explanation. Unlike a conventional quartz, the second hand does not advance in jumps but rather continuously and smoothly, like a mechanical watch. This gives the watch a completely different, more lively and dynamic presence on the wrist.
The precision is that of quartz (±10 seconds/month), but the visual experience is that of a mechanical watch. It is the best of both worlds for an everyday chronograph.
